"One of the biggest reasons that lymies loose their friends is others perceive their problems as "drama". Instead of trying to understand- that what they are going through is real and not over exaggerated- they judge and avoid. People with lyme can have a myriad of problems- They can have seizures, paralysis, headaches, muscle spasms, vomiting, hypoglycemia, and heat exhaustion, all in the same day. All the while taking meds that make them even sicker. They aren't creating - this "drama". They aren't trying to get "attention". For them its real. But for someone who doesn't understand lyme- its easy from other side to see it as "a performance". Because the mind cant comprehend how a person can go through so much at the same time- and it be real. But it is real. Real bacteria living inside them wrecking havoc on thier bodies. Literally being eaten up on the inside by tiny bugs. A real life nightmare! Not drama!!!!Lyme is real and the problems it creates is not drama. Its a very debilitating and painful disease. And it needs your compassion not your judgment. People with cancer never get accused of "drama" - People with lyme shouldn't either. So the next time you walk away from someone with lyme and call it drama- You just let down someone who loves you who is very sick and needed you now more than ever. And you have failed them as a friend."
